History
1998
Humble Beginnings
Initially founded as Milmount Tree & Lawn by Alan Hearn in 1998 with just a truck and a small residential crew, the company provided residential tree climbing pruning and removal services with his primary focus on safety and integrity. He also developed a knack for incredible customer service, always ensuring that the customers’ needs were met and eventually his reputation would precede him.
1990-2008
A Small Business Evolves
Fast forward a few years and the economic crash of 2008 cost nearly everything, but Alan’s persistence paid off and while making ends meet from job to job, the business stayed its course. As the economy recovered, the business eventually got back into full swing and Arbor Pro of Virginia became the true “family business”.
2009-2020
A Developing Industry
Over time, Arbor Pro of Virginia expanded to meet the demands of evolving residential tree-care needs, expanding in both equipment offerings as well as building multiple crews to service a variety of customer needs. Eventually, with an ever-expanding clientele, services offered grew to include commercial tree care and right-of-way maintenance.
2021
Response to Industry Demand
In 2021, Arbor Pro of Virginia moved its headquarters to Powhatan, Virginia to facilitate a growing staff. An increase in environmental regulation directly correlated to an increase in right-of-way maintenance regulations which opened the door for Arbor Pro to service areas along the mid-Atlantic. Arbor Pro expanded into new regions venturing south into Georgia and northeast to Pennsylvania.
2024-Present
Operations Today
Now with a multi-state presence, we have rebranded as A.W. Hearn Construction, a name recognized by excellence in reputation, safety, integrity, and precision. What started as one climber with a chainsaw has slowly evolved into being a company with a name recognized all along the East Coast.
